Buying Guide > What do I need to install lawn sprinklers
When you are installing popup lawn sprinklers are going to need lots of fittings and LD poly pipe. How you trench, hand dig or machine dig, will also determine what fittings you need. Don’t skimp on fittings or poly pipe. It’s better to have some left over than to be held up waiting for more fittings. The parts list guide will help you in this regard. Each of the zones shown below is based on the sprinklers being in a line. For other arrangements extra elbows or tees may be needed. Click on any item if you want to see more information on it or add it to your shopping cart.
We have included the common sprinklers in the relevant zone types, but please feel free to choose your own sprinklers from the spinkler section. Also the full range of poly fittings can be found here.
Zone Type: Large gear sprinklers hand dig
Zone Type: Large gear sprinkler machine trench
Machine trenching cannot be done next to the edge of the lawn and so it is done approx 500mm away from the edge. To place a sprinkler dig back to the edge, fit a tee into the line and feed to the threaded elbow under the sprinkler.
Zone Type: Medium gear sprinklers hand dig
Zone Type: Medium gear sprinkler machine trench
Zone Type: Spray sprinkler hand dig
Spay sprinkler zones vary depending on the radius of the sprinkler and the number in the zone. The zones shown below are based on six 3m-radius sprinklers placed in a line. Adjust the numbers to suit other size sprinklers.
Zone Type: Spray sprinkler machine trench
In addition you will need LD poly pipe to run from each zone to the manifold or solenoid an of course elbows, tees, and clamps to suit.
