Frequently Asked Questions
Why are your volumes less for the same sized tanks as your competitors?
It is common for companies to calculate the volumes of bladder tanks by assuming the tanks are a cube. For example a 1.5m x 4.0m x 0.5m cube has a volume of 3000L - yet a bladder tank of the same dimensions has a volume closer to 2200L due to the rounded edges. Our tanks are quoted with a volume that is a reasonable estimate of what they will hold at the quoted height.
Why don't you have a frame for your tanks?
Bladder Tanks that are made from material that is not reinforced (ie elastic) need a frame to hold their shape. Wet Earth bladder tanks are made from reinforced PVC, which is self-supporting, so our tanks do not require a frame. We have chosen to use a reinforced PVC fabric because we believe that a stable fabric is likely to have a better lifespan than a fabric that continually expands and contracts with the filling and emptying of the tank.
Why do you recommend a 50mm inlet fitting?
Our tanks are normally supplied with a 50mm female threaded inlet fitting but customers can request that it be replaced with a 100mm PVC Collar Pan fitting (we are happy to as it is cheaper). We recommend the 50mm inlet fitting as it allows connecting with our bladder tank pipe. This approach:
- minimises the chance of damage to the tank and piping through inflexible connections;
- prevents the piping disconnecting from the tank; and
- uses a flexible pipe that will not collapse.
A 50mm fitting with 1m of head pressure will support a flow of 500 litres/minute so we do not expect much potential rainwater will be lost through using a 50mm fitting versus a 100mm PVC Collar Pan fitting.
Why are Wet Earth Bladder Tanks better than our competitors ?
- Our fabric is a higher quality material - thicker, reinforced and longer lasting;
- Our fabric is less likely to be accidentally punctured and is more resistant to rodents because it is reinforced and thicker;
- Our tanks are made from a non-expanding fabric so they will never grow out of their frame;
- We use quality joins on our tanks - All our joins are welded back onto themselves, which makes them much stronger than just welding the two pieces of material together;
- We believe that our connection setup using a flexible pipe and no moving parts will provide a more stable long-term solution;
- The lack of a frame provides more flexibility in locating the tank and positioning and connecting multiple tanks together;
- Our fabric is fully UV stabilised and does not require a cover;
- Our tanks sit directly on the ground so less height is required;
- Our tanks and their fitting positions are designed so it is easy to join multiple bladders together;
- The tank fittings we use are high quality long lasting Nyglass tank inlet fittings not cheap poly fittings or 100mm collar pan fittings; and
- The Geotec material used for some framed tanks is not a structural material and should not be used for this purpose. We only use Geotec as a ground sheet for our tanks.
Why buy a Wet Earth Bladder Tank ?
- Simply our tanks are the highest quality tanks;
- Bladder tanks are a growing portion of our business and you can be confident we will support you in the long term. We are not some start-up business who are there to sell as many blader tanks as quickly as possible then disappear as quickly as they came - or at the first sign of problems with their tank;
- Our website is not as fancy as some of our competitors and we do not have teams of people marketing our bladder tanks, but this is reflected in our lower prices; and
- As with all Wet Earth products, our aim is to sell the highest quality product at the best price - we believe our bladder tanks achieve this aim.
