Mains Water Backup System are generally used when rain water in a water tank is going to be used to supply toilets or a washing machine. Mains Water Backup Systems ensure that when your rain water tank is empty your toilet and washing machine are automatically switched over to use mains water.
There are a number of Mains Water Backup Systems available, but they are generally expensive, overly complex and depend on a cumbersome float valve system. Wet Earth has come up with a simple but efficient solution to this problem which provides the following benefits:
- simple to install - no float valves or tank level sensors required
- optional rainwater only outlet
- automatic mains backup when no power
- available as a complete kit with pump already plumbed into a pump box
- available as an option that can be retrofitted to most quality constant pressure pumps
- ideal for bladder tanks where float valve setups are difficult
Wet Earth Mains Backup Systems come in 2 options.
- Wet Earth Mains Backup Box inc Rainwater Only Tap: This is a complete solution with a premium quality DAB 62 MPCX pump plumbed into a pump box. All that needs to be done it is to connect the tank, mains supply and outlet to the toilet to the connections on the pump box. A tap is also attached to the box which will provides a pump pressure rainwater only outlet. This is ideal where you want to use your rain water for toilet and/or washing machine as well as using it for garden or car washing etc. The rain water only outlet does not have mains water backup.
- Wet Earth Mains Backup Retrofit: The Mains Backup Retrofit Kit which can be attached to any quality pump with an appropriate flow/pressure curve. Please contact us to determine if your pump is appropriate. Note this does not include the Rainwater Only option.

The Wet Earth Mains Water Backup System needs to be manually reset once your rainwater tank starts to refill after being empty. This can be done by either by pressing a button on the pump or switching the power to the pump off and on. Some customers have used Power timers to automate this function (ie switch pump off for 15min every 24hrs). Please contact us if you wish to discuss options for automating the resetting of your pump. |
